SciRoc 2021 took place at the historic Palazzo Re Enzo, from Monday 6th – Friday 10th September 2021.

13 international teams joined the competition. Given the restrictions and uncertainty around COVID-19, for 2021 we introduced remote participation options for teams who were unable to travel. We were thrilled to have 7 teams join us in person, and 6 competing remotely. A huge thank you to all of our teams who worked so hard during the event.

Our doors to the public officially opened on Wednesday 8th September and it was wonderful to have so many people join us, asking questions, interacting with our teams and their robots, and enjoying the competition. Thank you to our volunteers who guided our audience through each episodes, ensuring an interactive experience for everyone.

Our event this year was focused around the theme of Smart Inclusion and our 5 episodes, each consisting of a task to be performed through addressing specific research challenges, successfully addressed this theme. Read the full details on each of our episodes here.

Our teams battled hard, working together to overcome challenges, and 5 of our teams successfully navigated their robots to victory! After a full 5 days we are pleased to confirm the winners of SciRoc 2021! A big congratulations to our winning teams, and thank you again to all of our teams for joining us.

A big thank you also to our partners Università di Bologna, Fondazione Alma Mater and Fondazione Innovazione Urbana who hosted SciRoc 2021 and made this event happen. We also thank our sponsors, organisers, volunteers and members of the public for joining us.

If you missed any of the competition, the full event was live streamed via our YouTube channels. You can watch all footage from the event via YouTube now. All photos from the event, and our video of highlights will be shared via the SciRoc website soon!
