Small solids: big challenge

euRobotics aisbl Laboratory Robotics Topic Group and smartlab.network recently held the latest in a current series of webinars on “Solids Dispensing: Automation Challenges.” Jointly organised by Radhika Gudipati and Patrick Courtney, the latest discussion focused on ‘Small Scale Robotics: Solids and Powder Handling in the Laboratory’. The first of the two speakers Pascal Miéville (EPFL, Switzerland) focused on the challenges of precise dispensing of solids in small quantities (read more). Second speaker Nikola Radulov then gave a high level overview on the challenges of powder dispensing in chemistry lab automation, with a particular focus on using material information as physical priors and simulation frameworks to train robust manipulation policies to improve this task.
