CHANGE OF FOCUS: SHOWCASE EVENT FOR EUROPEAN ROBOTICS WEEK MOVES TO BUCHAREST FOR 2026

The host city for European Robotics Week’s central showcase event in 2026 will be Bucharest.  The centrepiece of this annual celebration of European robotics will take place in the Romanian capital in November 2026, precise dates to be confirmed. The announcement was made today (4 December) at a brief handover ceremony during this year’s Focus Event in Tallinn.

The Estonian capital is currently playing host to this year’s two-day Focus Event for European Robotics Week at the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), in collaboration with Robotex.

A simple handshake – low-key, delivered with warmth – marked the exchange of responsibility for the next Focus Event to Ana Maria Stancu, European Robotics Week national coordinator in Romania, from Nathan Metsala, CEO of Robotex and the chair of this year’s event in Tallinn.

European Robotics Week was created to bring robotics closer to civil society as a whole and young people in particular. Each year the headline Focus Event includes activities open to the general public, plus institutional events with representatives from administration, industry, research and academia.

Activities for each Focus Event vary every year. However, with public engagement part of the fundamental purpose of European Robotics Week, a consistent theme is the social impact of robotics and technology, with a spotlight the role of robotics in education, working life and society at large. More details about plans for the Bucharest event will be announced next year.

European Robotics Week (ERW) was created in 2011 at the European Robotics Forum (ERF) to bring robotics science and development closer to the public and to shape a forward-looking robotics-aware society.  Every year, local activities are organised and held all over Europe. Each year euRobotics and a local host organise a headline event in a prominent European location, as in Tallinn this year, to provide a high-level point of focus for ERW.

euRobotics, the European robotics association, organises the Week and the Forum each year in partnership with local organisers. With around 250 members from research and industry, euRobotics is Europe’s leading membership body for robotics. It is a non-profit association based in Brussels with an active network spanning the robotics sector throughout the continent and beyond.
