euRobotics General Assembly ratifies new President

Monday 23rd March 2026

The European robotics association euRobotics aisbl is proud to announce that it has a new president.  Bernd Lieperthas retired as President of euRobotics aisbl after more than ten years in the role, since the earliest days of the association. At the annual General Assembly held in Stavanger, Norway, today (Monday 23 March), the association’s members ratified the nomination of Francesco Ferro, CEO and Co-Founder of Barcelona-based PAL Robotics, to succeed Bernd as euRobotics President.

Bernd has ably led the association since its formation and leaves the role with the organisation in very good shape to pursue the next stage of its development, which Bernd has coined euRobotics 2.0 and for which he has personally helped lay much of the groundwork. Addressing members of euRobotics, Bernd said: “It was important for us at euRobotics to keep our independence and our freedom to focus on our own community and our members, and to continue to support roboticists in Europe through the alliances we have begun to build. After more than a decade as euRobotics President and as a coach to the association, now is a good time for a change. For this next period, euRobotics needs a leader who can build upon the foundations we’ve established while also bringing the fresh perspective and skill set required for our new euRobotics 2.0 strategy. This includes enhanced digital engagement and a focus on expanding our community. Francesco is that person. He knows our association well and is a valued member of our community. He is an excellent roboticist. I have fully supported his nomination from the beginning and I am delighted that our members have ratified his nomination as the new President of euRobotics at the General Assembly today.”

Responding to the General Assembly’s decision, Francesco said: “I am delighted and honoured that the members of euRobotics have expressed their confidence in me in this way. When the association’s Board of Directors nominated me at the end of last year, I made a commitment to build on the excellent foundations established by Bernd. With everyone’s support I will keep that commitment. I will do it with renewed energy and passion – for our community and for robotics.

Francesco assumed responsibility as the new euRobotics President with immediate effect following the conclusion of the General Assembly this afternoon.
