Multiple-actOrs Virtual Empathic CARegiver for the Elder

OBJECTIVES

MOVECARE develops and field-tests an innovative multi-actor platform, that integrates an existing robotic system with domotic sensors, smart objects, a virtual community and an activity centre, to provide assistance, transparent monitoring and activities to the elder at home through a full-fledged, modular, personalized, and compliant approach that does not require the elder to wear any particular device or to change his/her habits. It assembles off-the-shelf components in a robust and reliable way to get a low-cost hierarchical system that can be deployed massively at elders’ home.

EXPECTED IMPACT

Elders with physical and cognitive problems are recovered in nursery homes too early: too little is done to let them staying at home longer. MoveCare wants to change this through an autonomous integrated system built around caregivers and elders needs that maximizes compliance, dependability and configurability. An adequate metric for its quantitative evaluation will be defined and a new model of care delivery, that empowers both the elders and the caregivers is developed.
