Introducing Binabik and UPO
This year’s General Assembly (GA) in Stavanger voted to ratify the admission into membership of a dozen organisations of various types which had joined euRobotics during the year since the last GA. Over this year’s remaining editions of the newsletter we will introduce them, largely in their own words.
We began last time by introducing Orbit Rise from the UK and Belgium’s Royal Military Academy – Department of Mechatronics and Robotics. In this edition we are pleased to welcome new Industry member Binabik, which has headquarters in Switzerland and Finland, and a new Research member, the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO) from Spain.

“Binabik is a company developing a generalist Physical AI platform designed to enable real-world autonomy and adaptive learning. Its technology focuses on creating an AI “brain” that remembers context, interacts naturally, and adapts across tasks. The company combines robotics, AI, and edge-to-cloud computing expertise to support dynamic, unstructured environments. Binabik works with partners to accelerate deployment of intelligent systems capable of long-horizon, real-world operation.”
Robotics-Focused Activities in Europe
Binabik develops a modular Physical Agentic AI OS for humanoid and field robots, supporting European robotics ecosystems. The platform integrates natively with ROS2, widely used in European research and industrial robotics. Its European operations (including Switzerland and Finland) contribute to regional innovation in next-generation robot autonomy. Binabik works on enabling robots to learn faster from less data – crucial for European industries where data availability is limited. The company supports real-world robotic deployments through edge-to-cloud orchestration and fleet-level capabilities across Europe.”

The Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO) Seville, Spain, established in 1997, is one of the youngest public universities in Spain. However it has successfully fulfilled the first stage of development, with more than 13,000 students. Despite its relatively short life, it was recently classified as one of the most productive universities in Spain in terms of research.
“The Service Robotics Lab is a research group on robotics and related technologies in the Universidad Pablo de Olavide. We research on different lines related to localization and SLAM, perception, decision making and adaption in robotic systems, including multi-robot systems and systems involving robots and persons. The group has participated in projects of the EU framework programmes since FP7.”
