European Robotics Week was born out of a shared passion within the European robotics community to bring research and innovation closer to the public and shape the future of a tech-literate society. Every year, local activities open their doors across Europe to make science accessible to all. To kick off this year’s celebrations, Romania—the official host country for European Robotics Week 2026—will launch the national and European programme with a special ERW Preview Event on 30 October 2026 at the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest. The launch coincides with the 17th edition of ROBOCHALLENGE (30 October – 1 November 2026), Europe’s largest international robotics competition, bringing together enthusiastic builders and innovators from over 27 countries under one roof.

Welcome to European Robotics Week: Bringing Technology to Everyone
Robots are no longer just science fiction or complex machines hidden away in high-tech labs and factories—they are quickly becoming a part of our daily lives, transforming how we learn, work, and care for each other. Every November, European Robotics Week (ERW) opens doors across Europe—from research centres and industrial companies to community venues and universities—to show you what robotics truly is and how it shapes your everyday world.
Launched in 2011 by euRobotics, ERW was created when the European robotics community recognized a gap between cutting-edge developments in robotics and public understanding of these technologies. To bridge that divide, ERW was born with a mission: make artificial intelligence and robotics accessible to everyone. Today, it connects universities, research labs, robotics companies, schools, maker-spaces, and more to offer practical, engaging experiences such as open-lab days, hands-on coding workshops, school competitions, and public discussions.

From Social Media Clips to Real-World Impact
Thousands of robot videos flood social media daily, yet watching a clip is very different from experiencing technology in person. ERW goes beyond online clips and headlines by letting you see, touch, and test real machines. This hands-on approach helps reveal the truth about robotics—especially regarding concerns like job replacement.
Most people do not realize where robotics is making the biggest differences in our lives today. Robots now play vital roles beyond factories, including healthcare, construction, agriculture, disaster relief, and environmental protection. ERW highlights how technology collaborates with people to make work safer and more efficient.

History of the ERW
Last year European Robotics Week (#ERW) celebrated its 15th edition. The ERW2025 Focus Event took place in Tallinn, Estonia at the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in collaboration with Robotex. The Tallinn event spotlighted the social impact of technology across education, working life, and society — featuring school workshops, hands-on digital sessions, and institutional debates alongside the international Robotex festival.
