The lecture shed light on the interdisciplinary field of tension of social human-robot interaction. It provided insights into the development process of social robot platforms – from design aspects to the external appearance of a robot to the transfer of social-psychological approaches to prosocial robot behavior. To illustrate, selected current robot developments from the research of Dr. med. Kühnlenz in the private service sector, as well as collaborative robotics in the context of Industry 4.0, were presented.

The digital transformation poses a particular challenge for medium-sized companies to modernize production systems and adapt them flexibly to varying customer and market requirements. As assistance systems, collaborating robots offer new potentials to improve working conditions and results at workplaces in assembly that have so far been little or not automated. Possible applications of assistance systems were presented on the basis of examples and current research projects.
