ERF2026 Event overview
The European Robotics Forum 2026 (ERF2026), the most influential meeting of the robotics community in Europe, was held from 23 – 27 March in Stavanger, Norway.
Event description
Stavanger, a vibrant and innovative hub in Northern Europe, offers a unique setting where tradition meets technology. As a dynamic region investing in smart industry, energy transformation, and digital innovation, it provides the perfect backdrop for advancing robotics and AI dialogue across sectors.
Robotics for the blue economy and growth in space (motto of ERF 2026) represents a significant intersection of advanced technology and sustainable development. Together, these two domains highlight the transformative potential of technology in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time. By harnessing the power of robotics, we can promote sustainable practices in our oceans while simultaneously advancing our capabilities for space exploration, ultimately fostering a more resilient and prosperous future for both our planet and beyond.
Stavanger has been a hub for trade, shipping, and business for centuries. International networks have been developed as far back as the Iron Age. Stavanger is known as the energy capital of Norway, and the city and its surrounding region is recognized for agriculture, technology and innovation.
Stavanger’s technological journey, which began with fishing and canning, was accelerated by the oil and gas industry. The advanced subsea expertise developed in the North Sea is now being applied to new frontiers, from robotics in the deep sea to technology for outer space, continuing a legacy of ocean-driven innovation.
