The Heriot-Watt@Home ERL Test Bed will host the second ERL Consumer Service Robots local tournament at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, from 3-7 December 2018.
The European Robotics League – Consumer Service Robots is an innovative concept for robot competitions that focuses on tasks executed by domestic service robots in a real home environment. The new ERL framework for 2018-21 is composed by annual local tournaments held across Europe, and biennial ERL Smart Cities Robotics Challenges. The first SciRoc Challenge will be held in Milton Keynes, UK, from 16-22 September 2019.
During the annual tournament season, teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments and get scores based on their performances. Scores of the best two participations in tournaments for each team are added and teams are ranked based on their cumulative score. Prizes for the top teams are awarded during the next year’s European Robotics Forum (ERF), i.e. ERF 2019 for the 2018/19 Season.
Participating teams in the 2018/19 Season are candidates to take part in the ERL Smart Cities Robotics Challenge 2019.
The ERL Consumer tournament in Edinburgh offers the following task benchmarks (TBMs):
• TBM1: Getting to Know My Home
• TBM2: Welcoming Visitors
• TBM3: Catering for Granny Annie’s Comfort
• TBM4: Visit My Home
The criteria for selecting the 3 participating teams will be based on the team’s research quality, as measured from the TDP and list of relevant publications.
