euRobotics opens its Call for the 2017 Georges Giralt PhD Award.

The submission deadline is 31st December, 2016.

The aim of the “Georges Giralt Ph.D. Award” is to showcase PhD theses defended in 2016 European universities from all areas of robotics. Outstanding theses with strong theoretical contributions, a focus on professional applications or technology transfer, with a high degree of multidisciplinarity, or showing how robotics technologies can be ‘exported’ to new domains, are eligible for the prize.

Submissions are done by sending an email to the George Giralt Award Committee phd.award@eu-robotics.net, containing:

  • name of PhD student;
  • name of PhD granting institution;
  • title of PhD thesis;
  • date of PhD defence;
  • URL to a PDF version of the thesis;
  • Email address and contact data of the PhD student.

Please, keep the message concise and to the point, avoiding attachments; no supplementary information (letters of reference, publication lists, CVs,…) is required.

The award will be given to the winner(s) at the occasion of the next European Robotics Forum, in Edinburgh, Scotland, March 22-24, 2017. The selection of the finalists will be announced mid-to end-of-February 2017, and these finalists are expected to give a 20 minutes presentation of their research at the Forum, since part of the award evaluation will be done on the basis of that oral presentation.

The jury for the Georges Giralt Ph.D. Award consists of members of the former “Education & Training Board” of the EURON network and members of the euRobotics AISBL Topic Group on Education and Training
