Date: Brussels 11 April 2019

Place: BluePoint, A. Reyers 80, 1030 Brussels

This is the first of two initial workshops that will collect input from the robotics community into the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the new AI Partnership with the Big Data Value Association (BDVA). This follows the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2018 and the publication of the Joint Vision paper by BDVA and euRobotics during the European Robotics Forum.

It is important to understand that in this context the term AI is used in its broadest possible context (macro) and so includes everything in robotics and data as well as linking to related technical areas such as IoT, 5G, embedded systems etc.

The workshop will provide a first opportunity to review the outline of the SRAI that has been developed jointly with BDVA and to contribute to the content. (The SRAI outline will be circulated prior to the workshop). The BDVA and euRobotics have set the goal of publishing the first draft of this document by the end of May 2019. This version will build on the Vision Document. It is expected that the full document will be published in Q4 2019.

This workshop will concentrate on explaining the role of the AI partnership in the context of Horizon Europe and the expected approach to partnerships. It will examine the contribution euRobotics can make to the SRIA in terms of market and technology strategy and will outline the joint development process. The second workshop (8 May) will continue with these themes but will focus on impact, business engagement, skills and value creation.
