President Bernd Liepert speaks at Roundtable discussions during ROBOT2025
euRobotics strengthens ties with the Iberian robotics community
The Spanish and Portuguese robotics community came together in November once again for their annual conference ROBOT2025. This year’s location was Porto, Portugal’s hilly, charming second city which lies on the river Douro close to the sea.
The Iberian Robotics Conference also brings together the principal robotics associations, institutes and universities. This year’s event was co-sponsored by SPR – Sociedade Portuguesa de Robótica (SPR), Sociedad Española para la Investigación y Desarrollo en Robótica (SEIDROB), Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB), and Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP).
euRobotics was represented by our President Bernd Liepert, and project manager Javier Luque. As expected, the conference offered an interesting overview of the most recent papers coming from different universities all over the Iberian Peninsula and a state-of-the-art-overview of the most recent developments in robotics.
The conference also gave the association an opportunity to pursue its goal of building and strengthening alliances. This is an initiative with which it has made increasing progress in the last couple of years, especially in this part of Europe. In another example of euRobotics’ commitment to its alliances with its Iberian partners, the association held the third edition of the Iberian Robotics Roundtable. Representatives from the main Spanish and Portuguese robotics associations took part both physically and online. Following a successful launch of the roundtable format during the Iberian Robotics Conference 2024 in Madrid and a second roundtable at ERF2025 in Stuttgart, this latest edition focused on reinforcing the collaboration between our associations. One of the outcomes of the roundtable in Porto was an agreement to strengthen our collaboration further before the next edition at ERF2026 in Stavanger.
