This month (10 June) saw the deadline for expressions of interest in presenting a workshop in Stavanger at ERF 2026. And there was indeed a lot of interest, with over 120 responses received by the deadline. Topic Groups are involved in just over half of these initial expressions of interest. From an initial scan of topics proposed, there seems to be plenty of enthusiasm for workshops on next-generation robotics technologies, robotics in key application areas and end-user challenges, to name just three of the most common recurrent themes. The ERF Program Committee’s next task is to review the initial submissions and make a first round of pre-clustering, so that overlapping workshop topics can be identified. For the teams submitting proposals the next stage will be to ‘put flesh on the bones’ of their proposals by preparing more detailed workshop descriptions with a September deadline. There’s a lot more to come. Meanwhile the clock ticks onwards towards ERF 2026.
