Following the launch of the European robotics strategy A Unified Vision for European Robotics published by euRobotics late last year, several senior members of the euRobotics community have responded with their reactions to it. Here’s a selection:

“Intrinsic welcomes the European robotics strategy and its focus on accessibility and wider deployment of robots. Our expertise in intuitive software and AI aligns with this goal, and we are actively collaborating with European stakeholders across industry, research, and open-source communities to contribute to a strong and innovative robotics ecosystem in Europe.” Rainer Bischoff, Intrinsic, General Manager Germany

“Robots let AI interact with and shape the physical world. Europe has a strong tradition and expertise in the robotics domain, and it is within our grasp to lead the robotics revolution in this area. While we face competition from other regions, Europe’s expertise in robotics positions us to lead in transforming industries and addressing societal challenges.” Jon Agirre Ibarbia, Tecnalia, Head of Strategic Research Programmes for Manufacturing & Robotics

“The importance of robotics in enhancing productivity and service delivery, and the need for long-term research and innovation investments are needed to maintain Europe’s competitive edge. Especially the innovation chain needs to be unbroken focusing on long-term research support and nurturing results on industrial use. AI is a great tool and we need to focus it on robotics needs.” Juha Röning, University of Oulu, BISG, Professor, Unit leader

“The challenge of dexterity in robotics has occupied Shadow’s work for as long as we have been working with the European community on roadmapping. We welcome that this new strategy recognizes dexterity as an important challenge for European robotics, and look forward to a brighter robotics future in Europe and beyond.” Rich Walker, Managing Director, Shadow Robot Company

“Field robotics with deep embodiments of the research advances in AI is a really powerful enabling technology that will positively change our lives in the near future, an area in which the Robotics and AI Subject at Luleå University of Technology is specialised. We welcome this strategy, which envisions a brighter and extended impact of robotics while placing Europe as the leading actor in the field.” George Nikolakopoulos, Professor at Luleå University of Technology
