President of euRobotics Bernd Liepert reflects on the year ahead
Dear Members
I hope you have all enjoyed some time for rest and relaxation during the holidays that separate one year from another – for most of us anyway. It’s important that we make time to step back from our busy lives, to slow down and pause. We are not electronic devices but, like batteries and mobile phones, we can also run out of power, so many of us need to find new physical and mental energy from somewhere before we start to work again at our usual pace. Many of us find it with our families and friends and through a change of pace during the festivities. Two weeks into the new year, I hope you are now all fully recharged!
As always at euRobotics we begin a new year with ERF just a few weeks away. I hope everyone in our community will take the opportunity to join us in Stuttgart. It’s going to be an important gathering of the European robotics world and a lot of fun, too. Our calendar of activities is well-established, but this year feels a little bit different. We launched a new strategy for European robotics at the end of 2024 and by doing this we sent out a strong signal that euRobotics is the natural home for the European robotics community, and that if you want to know about European robotics and you want to influence its future direction, you should be a part of euRobotics. I am confident that many people will pick up the signal and when they do, our Office team led by Reinhard Lafrenz will be ready with their warmth and enthusiasm to sign them up as members!
For those of you who are already well-established as euRobotics members, this time of year is also the moment when we look for new candidates to join and refresh our Board of Directors. You will see the call for candidates in this newsletter. I hope you will consider it. Meanwhile, whatever your plans for 2025, good luck with your ventures over the next 12 months. I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and successful year.
