As the end of the year approaches we find ourselves in the middle of awards season – the euRobotics Awards, that is. Three well-established awards which, together represent the full arc from idea to lasting implementation. Firstly the research, recognised through the Georges Giralt PhD Award, one of Europe’s notable scientific prizes for extraordinary research, which has long borne the name of Georges Giralt, a pioneer of robotics research. Then the transition from research to practical viability, the best examples of which are recognised via the Technology Transfer Award. Following this comes the bringing of technology to market through highly adept entrepreneurship. For this, euRobotics offers an award which is now named after one of the great entrepreneurial minds of the European robotics community – the Renaud Champion Entrepreneurship Award.
Of the three awards, the first has closed for applications and two remain open for submissions. While the deadline for applications for the Georges Giralt PhD Award has passed, the award process is very much in motion now, and the short list of finalists will be decided towards the end of February.
The window remains open for applications for the euRobotics Technology Transfer Award. This celebrates successful collaborations between research and industry in Europe that turn innovative robotic research into real-world products and services. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding examples of this technology transfer, with trophies awarded to the winners and certificates presented to the top three contenders. All finalists benefit from significant exposure and networking opportunities. The window for applications is open until 21 January 2025. All entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs in robotics are invited to enter the competition to win the prestigious euRobotics Renaud Champion Entrepreneurship Award, which is also ‘open for business’. This award is presented each year at the European Robotics Forum (ERF) to the most promising robotic start-up as judged by a jury of robotic entrepreneurship pioneers and experts.
As well as winning an award, entrants to the competition have an excellent opportunity to attract interest in their company from the wider robotics and investment community. The 2025 edition of the euRobotics Renaud Champion Entrepreneurship Award will take place as part of ERF 2025 in Stuttgart, Germany on 25–27 March 2025.
