From 23 – 26 September 2024 the robotics community is celebrating 40 years of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and specifically, 40 years since the launch of ICRA, the largest conference in robotics. 1200+ participants, including 80 distinguished speakers, are gathering at AHOY Rotterdam for a four day program in which participants will embark on a journey through the evolution of robotics and automation, from its early days as a subfield of disparate fields to its current incarnation as a rich intellectual discipline in its own right.

euRobotics is supporting ICRA@40 as a sponsor and contributing via an industry talk given by Secretary General Reinhard Lafrenz on the opening day, Monday 23 September 2024. Vice President Rainer Bischoff will be representing our association at a panel discussion on Wednesday 25 September on the topic ‘Robotics Research and Government’ . The panel will discuss the common challenges and goals faced by government-funded institutions with large-scale robotics programs and how collaboration with the robotics research community and private industry should best be implemented.
