Marcello Chiurazzi, coordinator of the TG Companion Robots invites anyone with an interest in this field to get involved with the work of the TG.
Dear All, my name is Marcello Chiurazzi, I am an assistant professor from the BioRobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa, Italy. I am now coordinating the euRobotics Topic Group (hereafter TG), that is focused on Companion Robots. In my pursuit of fostering meaningful conversations and connections within this fascinating field, I am in the process of enlarging the discussion group to create a platform where enthusiasts, researchers, and professionals alike can come together to share ideas, exchange knowledge, and explore the wide possibilities that companion robots sector as a whole offer in our rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Starting from this purpose, I am writing you to evaluate your willingness to be part of our TG [1].
The TG has several important key points:
- Diverse Perspectives: We aim to bring together individuals from various backgrounds, including but not limited to robotics, artificial intelligence, ethics, psychology, sociology, and human-computer interaction. This diversity will undoubtedly contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
- Periodic Meetings: We plan to host monthly virtual meetings where participants can present their latest findings, discuss recent developments in the field, propose new and shared activities, and engage in open dialogues. These meetings will provide an opportunity for us to learn from each other and stay informed and “tuned” about the latest trends and breakthroughs.
- Collaborative Projects: Beyond discussions, we envision the potential for collaborative projects. By pooling our resources and expertise, we could explore new avenues for research, development, and application of companion robots.
Hence, as a first important action I would like to know who is interested in pro-actively participating. Therefore, please consider me at your disposal, having in mind that also the other people in the group will be happy to be contacted or contact you in any moment.
Thank you for considering this invitation. I look forward to the prospect of engaging in enlightening discussions and collaborative endeavours with you and other passionate individuals in the field of companion robots.
